diskimage problem. Cant use device and gui not working.
I was used to using diskimage to create virtual floppies out of adf files.
This worke on a cf card install on my A4000 I made long ago. But I Just created a new install of the wb3.1 on a hd I have been practicing my large partition skills on. Its all very fresh without a lot of extras besides dopus, sfs, installer. So I just installed diskimagectrl to c. the dev to devs and the devices to storage/dosdrivers. When I iuse the command line it works. it loads the adf. But I cant acces the drive. Also when I want to use the gui it give me an error: No K directive. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?? Thanks! as a default helper tool, use snoopdos. maybe it tries to load something, non existent on your harddrive.
start snoopdos before you start those diskimage commands/gui. there are at least two versions: 37.7 and 52.35. if one does not work, try the other. #1) with the device description files in storage/dosdrivers, maybe you have to mount them first, before you can access them?! in the shell: mount IDF0: followed by the diskimagectrl or gui tool. #2) i've installed diskimage.m68k-aos.tar.bz2 (v52.35) - it comes with a gui, which installs in sys:systems/DiskimageGui. install ClassAct2Demo and update with ClassAct 3.3 - no installer, but easy steps: copy classact33.lha -> Prefs/* to sys:Prefs copy classact33.lha ->Classes/* to sys:Classes Last edited by emufan; 20 January 2017 at 23:01. |

I had the 2 seperate files above that. Wich worked immediately like normal on my cf install.
So now I got the file you said and installed. I can mount and fill a idf0: manually. The gui doesnt start though. Also got the classact. but fasiled to blabla listbroweser.gadget |

ClassAct/Classes/gadgets/listbrowser.gadget is in ClassAct2Demo.lha
which comes with an installer. after installing update with the ClassAct33.lha files ![]() |

Ok looked into it and I really am not looking do install more and more stuff.
And besides. What I wanted to use and works for me on another cf, was: http://aminet.net/disk/misc/diskimage.lha With http://aminet.net/disk/misc/DiskImageGui.lha as the gui. This is a completely different programm. I just checked on my cf, and I am using the same files. Only the cf has mui installed. And this i a completely fresh 3.1 install. For some reason the programm gives a lot of mount files for di0 till di5 and some cd ones. And then when you really add the adf in the gui, it suddenly calls it idf0: instead of di0: |

you are right, the DI1-DI5 came with diskimage.lha 37.7
IDF0 IDF1 came with diskimage.m68k-aos.tar.bz2 v52.35 37.7 comes with a simpler gui, but i think 52.35 is the natural successor of the older one. just look in devs:dosDrivers and Sys:Storage/DosDrivers and delete what you do not want. DI* IDF* ICD* both versions share the same name and a folder: devs:diskimage.device devs:diskimage this way you should get rid of all of them and you can start from scratch, with 37.7 the few classact files wont do harm. just some bytes wasted ![]() Last edited by emufan; 20 January 2017 at 23:59. ![]() I am about to give up on it anyway. I allready cleaned up the mess and started anew with only the older. wich I gave the link to on aminet. It is supposed to work with the di0 etc. but it doesnt. I can mount them. link a file to it. but it wont show up. Then I use the same old version with the idf0 mounts and it works. Still no gui though ![]() I will install classact and try the other diskimage properly... Allthough I hear classact quite useless for the rest. ![]() If I mount idf0: |

hmm, i just saw, the old diskimagegui for 37.7 uses c:requestchoice. do you have that tool?
try in shell, to verify it is working: c:requestchoice test1 test2 test3 if you get a little requester, the tool works. i have requestchoice v39.4 Last edited by emufan; 21 January 2017 at 00:44. |

I will check.
meanwhile I istalled classact and then the update. And the newer other diskimage program works. Until I did a reset and it never booted again. I get a software failure. Checked the startup-sequence with workbench disk, but nothing strange going on there. Just caprefs in the user startup. I put a ; in front of it. didnt help.. |

it did help. I didnt save it properly.
At least it boots normally again. But Diskimage now misses the listbrowser.gadget again. ![]() |

![]() i cannot explain, why the gadget went lost, but copy it manualy from the Classact2demo.lha to sys:Classes/gadgets/listbrowser.gadget. i dont have caprefs in startup-sequence or user-startup. maybe it does some classect prefs preload. Last edited by emufan; 21 January 2017 at 23:32. |

that is the strange part.. the listbrowser.gadget was still there.
Also the old diskimage didnt work anymore. Nothing worked.. It seemed to have messed up something big time. Anyway. the workbench disks were still laying there. I started over ![]() It was a fresh install anyway. |

so it does work now, after all?
#1) maybe not a bad idea, once you get your basic system running, including diskimage, make a lha archive from sys: so once something goes wrong, you can just extract the backup back to sys: ![]() |

It does work again yes.
![]() I use diskimage from the shell with the idf0 mounts. works great. I installed a lot of stuff allready. And I think I understand why I had some weird reactions when installing or starting programms. When installing a fresh Wb, I started with installing dopus. By stupidly copying the entire c libs and l dir from the dopus 4 disk to sys: Overwriting all kind of things in especially c. This time I actually put on my glasses and used my brain. And took care what to copy. :P Now programms run like normal, wich gave errors during previous installs. And that is a very good idea! I will do it now... |

I found the programm always used. Xfs! That is by far the easiest to use.
Click on the file: in the storage/dosdrivers. Requester pops up wich image to add and done. Adf dms and hdf support. Works great. |

Yes, it will also load ISOs and HDFs I am pretty sure. XFS is great
