ClassicWB newicons problem
Hi.
I am using ClassicWB on my Amiga 600 with kick 3.1 and ACA630. I am experiencing an annoying problem with newicons. Those icons are set in the newicons prefs to no border and in scalps prefs as transparent, and the icons indeed do this, except for every icon of new stuff i am installing such as Ibrowse. No amount of tinkering in prefs seems to allow to have every icon with no border. If I remove transparent from scalos prefs, no incon at all has border. Maybe is there a conflict here between scalos and something else. Any idea about this? If I can’t find a solution, I would rather ditch scalos completely because it just feels slow and clumsy. Thanks. |

Still trying to fix this annoying icon problem with ClassicWB ADV.
Every new thing i install has bordered icons. Still can't find it. Anyone knows how to fix this before i remove ClassicWB and reinstall a clean OS? |

First thing I would do is to install PeterK's latest IconLib. May fix your issue already.

@Calabazam
If you are referring to the native icons of 'ClassicWB AVD', the icon border is not a real border, but part of the icon graphics, so you can remove it. |

Here is the problem. Icons installed with ClassicWB are fine but anything new keeps border, whatever i change in Scalos setup or newicons prefs.

Can you attach some of 'your' icons so that I can test them on ClassicWB ADV?

Here are three icons, the icon drawer of IBrowse and two prefs icons which have borders.
Thanks. |

Can't you disable those borders with RAWBInfo or set the NoBorder tooltype (or whatever it is called) in CopyIcon?

Your icons on my Classic ADV have no border, but the WarpDT and SLEFF icons are corrupted (on WarpDT there are no more colours, SLEFF has a second face with the border integrated in the graphics) No problem and no border on the iBrowser icon (NewIcons) Scalos has its own icon manager, probably your Classic ADV has been modified. What did you change, did you mix system files from other Amiga OS ? Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 13 November 2023 at 15:50. |

I would - again - recommend installing PeterK's latest icon library. |

No even if you install Peterk's library it can't fix it, first because some icons are corrupted and others no colour. I did not install the Icon.library on purpose for testing, and had no problems hiding the border. Then as mentioned he has a problem on ClassicWB, Scalos has its own icon manager "Iconobject.library" which is not working properly To solve this, you must install ClassicVB ADV clean! |

Yes i have included the first bad icons i could copy.
I already have an alternate icon.library, which is the latest available from Aminet, i don't know if that's the one you are refering to. I don't think i modified anything regarding icons apart from this lib which i tried out of despair. I have also stopped ScalOS (it seems it launch itself from a modified LoadWB command after it has renamed the original one). Without ScalOS, these icons above are still visible but all others are white dots. I'm going to look if i can restore iconobject.library without a full resinstallation to avoid erasing all my stuff. If not, i think i will just reinstall a clean OS to my taste from floppy disks. I'm not fond at all of ScalOS and i did install this version of ClassicWB out of lazyness to restore the A600 after years of storage because of keyboard failures. Thanks for your help. |

I do not know which version and which type of Peterk's Icon.library you have installed.
On OS3.0/3.1, in order to use Peterk's Icon.library, it is not enough to copy the icon.library to Libs, but you have to disable the Icon.library "present in Kickstart" via a command in the Startup-Sequence. If you don't do this, the Icon.library copied to Libs will be ignored, in practice even if you delete the icon.library from Libs, Scalos will still start. |
