filters don't discriminate, so if there are areas of the pictures that would need a different rendering, like a noise reduction, to make the image consistent, well that cannot happen.
there will be always strange artifacts or inconsistencies, it's not a problem of the single filter or of its implementation...

you found this is horrible, i can't believe this
Each one can have is opinion.
I like shadow of the beast with hq2x really.
For those who has an interest in filter , for the best result with hq2x:32bits screen resolution (better colors use) and don't let horiz size and vert size to 0 (less blocky).

It looks better with games with simple graphics, like Defender http://hol.abime.net/5508 or similar.

erm what's the point in make the screenshots fight? i mean, who will like the ugly filters on, he will be happy that they are there to be used; he who rightly hates them, will be not convinced by these images ever to use them.
everybody is happy nevertheless.

but me. i'm sick today...

For your latest pictures the 2xsai was far the better one, most realistic. Though you stated previously, playing a game with 2xsai filter, slows the gameplay down.

yes, i think too that 2xsai and supereagle are nearest the original.
But hq2x seems to pull up the contrast between the different plans and between the characters and the rest of the screen.
more depth in the screen (but it depends of the game each one seems react differently)hq2x seems to act differently for each part of the screen.
One thing for sure it take less cpu power than 2xsai and supereagle.
Nobody for a real screenshot from a real amiga ?????
PS: i expect you understand what i tried to mean (sorry for my bad english)

I think the hq2x picture looked very murky and blurred in comparision to 2xsai. Both have no competition with the original, (or was just bad original screen shot).

As you say these filters give different results for evey game, as would be expected. Seems the 2xsai or supereagle and others need more work for better gameplay. To reduce their high cpu usage of which could be, causing gameplay or the game framerate slowdown.

for those who want to see what i mean with depth effect with hq2x try alien breed tower assault with hq2x filter the characters and the floor are not filtered in the same way. try it, you will understand.
i don't put screenshot because it can't show it.
Ps: with bad graphics games hq2x is rarely good

just for those who have an interest in filters.

I was interested to see the hq2x filter. But, after seeing those screenshots, I prefer to look at unfiltered graphics (with light scanlines, of course

It's just want to say don't try alienbreed tower assault with hq2x if you don't care about filters and comeback for telling, i don't care about filters, i don't like filters and hq2x is ugly like the others.
If you have constructive post you are welcome.

sorry, i'm a bit puzzled now... is the new filter implemented, and is it correcly implemented?
if it is, and that's what i think, this thread has reached its intent, and in any case it's not nice to bash this add on if you don't need it.
there is not constructive or deconstructive comments to be added at that, or am i wrong?
