Xsurf II Clock ports
Hello there my fellow amigans.
Now, since obviously every last one of you has an XSURF II i was wondering if anyone knew which way up the CLOCK ports are (or atleast which corner is pin 1). http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/search....=&base=dec&pid= unfortunately the manual seems some what skittish on the details saying some need to go one way the other need to go another... all i need to know is which way does my prelude A1200 clock port sound card go ? tnx in advance peeps. |

Mebay this will help you out :
User: I want to install a Delfina and a Subway USB controller to the X Surf clockports. Can you tell me what side on a XSurf is Pin 1 on Clockport 0 and Clockport 1. Jens: There is no pin 1 on the clockport. This is a common mistake, and it often leads to wrong connections, resulting in burnt cables and defective hardware. Naturally, this is not covered by warranty. Numbering on the clockport starts at 19 and ends at 40. User: I understand the red marker on cable for Delfina goes towards the front of the A4000 Jens: That's correct. I have defined in 1997 (when I designed the first clockport hardware ever), that the red marker goes to the _other_ extreme of the numbers, the highest:Pin 40, because pin 1 is not there. User: However there is much confusion which way the Subway USB controller cable goes as I have been told the red marker goes toward the back of the computer which is the opposite to the Delfina and there is no instructions on the subject anywhere. Jens: It's also correct, as E3B uses a different "logic". For his instructions, the red marker points towards the not-existing pin 1. Even if it'll look odd, both cables pointing into different directions on the X-Surf is correct. Also Double-check that you really plug the connectors to both rows of the connector. This is also a (luckily less common) mistake, but it also makes a short that results in burnt cables and defective hardware Wizard66: I also want to install a subway and a delfina on my xsurf. Can anybody place a picture from a working subway on a xsurf. And also a picture from a working delfina on a xsurf. Just to make sure it's not reversed connected (your hardware WILL go up in smoke reversed) |

at least for kickflash:
if u see the clockport pins , u will notice that one pin is connected to a smd resistor. that indicates the side where the RED cable must be so u can connect on it the subway... that pin is the power providing one... |

This is good info indeed Nobody wants to blow up his hardware. The clockport is the most dangerous connector i have ever seen. |
