Before someone corrects me, you can simply cut the track in the left hand circle as power is coming in from the top right.

Edit, i cleaned it up a bit. Red lines indicate traces on top, Blue on the bottom

In theory, any future updates of this board can have a 0 ohm resistor on the main 5v rail for those boards that require it for 5v ram, and you could swap out the 0 ohm resistor for a diode for those boards using 3.3v ram as the remainder of the board uses 3.3v. I think the CF card would get along fine with 4.6v
Awesome thanks Brian

@supaduper that is looking very decent, I am starting to wonder whether I should just get those damn Samsungs - still no news from UTsource regarding the AS4C1M16E5-60TC. Been a week now.

i just looked at some alternate through hole diodes, here is a page of them.

https://www.digikey.ca/products/en/d...=0&pageSize=25

this is my favourite...
497-2512-1-ND

so for a multi voltage board you can bridge the rail with this or a 0 ohm resistor

Isn't it better to not use SCHOTTKY diodes because SCHOTTKY diodes have a lower voltage drop?

Thats why we want them. you want 0.4-0.5V drop. To balance the RAM needs vs the CF/IDE Drive needs

just an update, i finished the routing, it has to be a 4 layer board hopefully that will be a plus, we'll see, now is the time where i spend hours looking for the obvious mistakes that take forever to find.

@kipper2k
Doesn't you need at least one of the CPLDs to cope with the IDE?
