Delfina overclocking
I was wondering if I use DelfTweak and step up the frequence from 40 - 48 MHz, do I need a heat sink on the DSP?

Is this a documented tweak? If so, what is the suggestion regarding a heat sink for the DSP?
If not, how hot does the DSP become when operating at the standard 40MHz clock frequency? 48MHz represents 20% overclocking, which is not trivial, and so some significant increase in heat generated should be expected. Can intermediate frequencies be set? The only way to tell might be to gauge the DSP's temperature with your hand while overclocking and kill the power if it becomes too hot, in which case a heat sink will be needed. |

in the delftweak docs there is no mention of requiring a heat sink. it is a program not supported by petsoff. With delfina lite it uses a multiplier to give the frequency. there is a 4 MHz crystal with a multiplier of 10 to give the standard 40 MHz frequency. Delftweak can allow one to change the multiplier to make the DSP work faster. in the docs it comes with vavious icons to do up to a 16 multiplier - 64 MHz. In the docs is says that you can change the multiplier up to 4096 but will give GHz range and would fry the DSP. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there in amiga cyberspace that has used this program an for how long. I just tried it on a song this AM but shut the computer down after one song for fear of heat. running MP3 files at 40 MHz gives stutter, at 48 MHz the song plays very well without degradation.

Is it possible to get your hand on the DSP to check the heat produced when it's operating?

I can I probably won't get a chance until the weekend. I have to take the computer a part.
