Amiga 1500 battery clock not found

I brought my Amiga 1500 a year ago and works fine the original battery had already been removed from the board.
I decided to put a battery back in and got a coin type holder but with the battery fitted it says battery clock not found.
I have checked the voltage from the battery and it reaches the real time clock chip so any ideas what might be wrong.
Many Thanks

What is the voltage getting to the RTC chip?

It is common for the RTC chip to fail and need replacing.
