Cadaver WHDload version not working on WinUAE 1.6.1
I have an install called Cadaver_v2.2_0900 that I cannot get to work for the life of me! Running UAE 1.6.1. I get to the Bitmap Brothers splash screen and the game just hangs there indefinitely. Clicking does nothing. The weird part is that I can get the Demo levels installs to work just fine.
I have updated my WHDload to the latest version available and I even tried downloading the latest UAE beta to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Version from www.whdownload.com works fine and run even on old WHDLoad 16.4.
I tested on old WInUAE version 1.1 and boot from harddisk mounted as a directory. |

I have downloaded that version off of WHDownload and I have the exact same problem. It doesn't appear to be an issue with my install. What settings are you using in UAE?

Hi prismra and welcome to EAB!
What settings do you use in WinUAE? Do you have any tooltypes set for the game? |

I am emulating an A1200 with 1.3 ROM, 040 CPU running OS 3.9 (Amiga Forever disk image as a directory).
No tooltypes excepting what was pre-configured by whomever made this install (PRELOAD). I found that it ONLY works if a 020 CPU is selected and JIT is disabled. Why would this be the case? I though WHDload just made everything work...I simply find it odd that of all the 20 WHDload installs I have working perfectly, this is the only one that required a different configuration. |

WHDLoad was made for real Amigas, not emulation. Disable JIT for all old games.

Thank-you guys so much! That I did not know! So I guess having the virtual machine run that fast jacks up the timing on certain games.

Yep, JIT vastly speeds up the emulation. Good for highend/modern Amiga setups like Amikit/AmigaSYS, but not for playing the old games.

prismra: my WinUAE configuration is following: CUP: 68040 (without JIT) Chipset: AGA
ROM: 3.1 RAM: Chip 2 MB slow 1 MB Fast 8 MB. I do not agree with Retro-Nerd because to run most games with preload option (or even without it) I need something better than my pure Amiga 1200 without memory extensions, so WinUAE is only way to play many games without "juggle" floppies or waste lot of time when loading adf under WinUAE. |

So then setup a WinUAE config which matches a real A1200 with some fastmem. 68040 CPU, 1MB slow and 8 MB fast isn't really a good config.

Why do you suppose that 040 doesn't work but 020 does?

It's known that some WHDLoad games cause strange issues with 68040 CPUs, so use a 68020/30 instead. Mixing Slow and Fastram, like olesio, isn't that good too.

^ What Retro said. No need to use an overkill config for WHDLoad and don't use slowmem for AGA configs.

ahhhh..... how many problems due to non-conform configuration files...
I use 68030 (best for whdload), AGA, 2mb chip, 32mb FAST, cycle exact ON, extended compatibility, JIT always disabled. so far with the last version of winuae, i got NO bugs on installed games. |

Using dlfrsilver's config I am 100% dialed-in right now. Everything works! Looks like JIT really throws the wrench in things sometimes. I'm glad I know to try it disabled now when I'm having issues.
I can finally run the Silkcut demo now without it crashing! Thanks! |
