WHDLoad Errors: Exception "Line 1111 Emulator"

Hi,

So I have been upgrading my Amiga 600 in the hope that I can HD load some games. On top of my stock A600 I have a 1MB trapdoor memory upgrade and a Kipper2k 4MB fastram upgrade. Should be more than enough, right?

Under workbench the memory shows up as: 981736 graphics ram, 3950928 other ram. Sounds about right.

However, very few games seem to load under WHDload. Take for example turrican 2. The factor 5 intro screen runs, but then we crash. Here is what I get under varying memory configurations:

Only 4MB fast:
Exception "Line 1111 Emulator" ($E02C) at $3F536 occurred.

Both 4MB fast ram and 2MB trap (same as above):
Exception "Line 1111 Emulator" ($E02C) at $3F536 occurred.

Neither RAM upgrade:
Failed to allocate shadow mem.

Other games fail with similar memory-based errors. For example backlash fails in exactly the same way.

My A600 runs Kickstart 37.350 and Workbench 38.35.

I have not been able to find much on the net about this and I don't see any mention on the whdload support page. I have look at the switches mentioned in there (NoCache, NoVBRMove, NoAutoVec, PAL/NTSC, NoMMU) but i don't think i need to change those from the default.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be?

Thanks

Try NoVBRMove, my Microbotics M1230 did that, only way to get it running was use NoVBRMove, the side effect is the QUIT key won't work

Hmmm. My WHDLoad install does not recognise NoVBRMove. Maybe I need to upgrade.

I'm using version 17.1

Just upgraded to 17.2. Now the intro screen does not load.

NoVBRMove does not seem to be a valid config option. If you put that in S:WHDLoad.prefs you get a parse error.

NoVBRMove is no valid global tooltype. You could also try NoMemReverse, just remove the ";" in whdload.prefs.

Hi,

If you have a memcheck program run it to see if RAM reports errors

I am using a 4GB flash drive.

I see there is this 'max transfer' bug. Perhaps this is it. Although I cant see where this can be changed in HDToolbox.

NoVBRMove needs to be set in the icon for the game! Another example of how we 'assume' people know what you're on about!!

For the record, I have tried setting NoVBRMove as a tool type of the individual game.

I tried a few different max transfer values (it was 0xffffff). By this method you can get some diffrernt error messages such as:

Exception "Address Error" ($F00C)
PC = $368D0
Read from $43D9

Bleh, no idea.

Sleep time.

Hi vext01, I guess this is the memory you got from me on Amibay you're having trouble with. I sent you a couple of PMs about it over there. I think you could be having intermittent contact problems with the piggyback socket.

Before I sent it I gave it a few hundred runs through the memory checker in the "memutils" package on aminet with no problem. See if it still passes that test as a place to start -

http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/MemUtil

A better test might be the package memcheck -

http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/MemCheckBH

It can tell you if a specific memory location is repeatedly faulty. I think that the addresses of your faults are in chip RAM though. That makes me think it's a problem transferring chip to/from fast. Possible cause is poor contact.

If it turns out the card is bad though, you can send it back. I'll swap it for my other one.

Hi,

Indeed I am using the kipper2k ram board I bought from you. However, I don't believe this to be the problem, since I still get the "emulator 1111" error *without* the fastram board installed (using only the 1MB trapdoor installed).

That said I will run some memory tests (when I find some time).

Cheers

After setting the max transfer setting to 0xFE00 you must re-install the CF card as writes with the previous setting almost certainly will have corrupted files.

I did the maxtransfer fix because I was getting a lot of these errors. After re-installing the CF card I would still get a lot of these.

I also have a Microbotics so I should try that VBR move fix. But some games don't even work in my A600+ACA620 (Turrican 2)

That's a shame. Perhaps I should just do the floppy emulation hack that surfaced recently:
http://cortexamigafloppydrive.wordpress.com/

Probably easier.

This is not the official WHDload support page!

Try the various tooltypes, try the v1.7 slave? If neither help then report a bug on their bug-tracker with as much details as you can (which version of WHDload, which slave, what tool types in your slave icon, what kickstart version you have, your startup-sequence etc. etc.)

http://mantis.whdload.de/

You are much more likely to get a solution there.

If you can easily updated to Kickstart 3.1 v40.63 that might improve your compatibility?
