Snapped a pin off my wicher.......

So as the title suggests I tried to remove my wicher card from my Amiga last night and bent the first pin very badly I tried to straighten it out and as I did it just snapped off it was obviously too far gone to bend back is there any chance of a repair to this?

Thought I’d post this here now I know someone but it’s too late to text them now lol

Thanks in advance

Paul

One of the 68000 socket pins on the 508i ?

You need a fine tip soldering iron (or hot air station), desolder the broken pin and replace the pin. you should be able to get the right pitch pcb pins from Ebay / aliexpress.

Here's how a CPU relocator pin was repaired:

Depending on which pin has broken, you might be able to do something similar.

I did the same thing on my Wicher 508i. I was installing the new Kickstart 3.1.4 ROM.

On my Wicher 508i, the two broken header pins which is located at the end section and I repaired it.

1. I use a Dremel's tiny cutter to separate the good header pins from the two broken header pins located at the end section.

2. Desoldered the two broken header pins with the aid of a vacume pump, desoldering braid and hot air/soldering iron station combo.

3. Soldered two stronger/better quality header pins on it.

I have two better quality header 40 pins on standby for the complete header pin replacement. I modded my A500 Rev 6 into 1MB chipram, repired gaming mouses (omron switch replacements) and I'm busy with home renovation and building my own electronics lab/man cave. Wicher's relocator header pins are weaker than 68000's pins.

I prefer buying Vampire 1200 type expansion card over Wicher style in CPU socket type accelerator.

Contact a re-cap service if they can solder the new header pins.

It doesn't fit in a A500 though.

Preference is different from real life, hence Wicher 508i for the A500.

Perhaps a ribbon extension from A500's side expansion bus which loops back inside the case that is attached to Wicher 508i type accelerator or exposed A1200 like expansion bus e.g. smaller ACA500plus with the ribbion flexibility and exposed A1200 like expansion bus.

Google search for 32bit PCI slot ribbion extension.
