Don't know if this preview was scanned before, but it's in the zone now just in case.

http://hol.abime.net/5485 (main entry including DBS) http://hol.abime.net/5485/screenshot (screenshots x 6) http://hol.abime.net/5485/review (magazine previews in AMR) Originally the game was called The Big Engine and was going to be published by Kompart in late 1994. Kompart folded (boo!) and developers The Hidden turned to Supervision, who published their previous game Donk. The game was renamed to The Big End (sounds a bit cheeky!) and was previewed in The One (Sep 94) and Amiga Power (Feb 95).......and then nothing more was written about it after that AFAIR. Anyone know why it wasn't released? Adrian? Nico? It looked quite good from the screenshots and development had progressed quite far judging from the previews. |

That does look like it might have been a cool game... perhaps someone could track down the programmers and ask them about it?

I ripped the HOL screenshots from a slideshow demo, which is as much as the Amiga community got to see (I doubt many have even seen it TBH). Would be nice if the developers or people connected to them came across this thread and a playable demo could be salvaged from whatever remains they might have. Even some info. on why it wasn't released would be something. We can but only hope!

Amiga will never die!

I was looking forward to playing this back when I read about it in The One and Amiga Power. Even better than getting a playable demo would be to get source code, or get the game in a finished state. It's a real shame more AGTW don't get released like that.

Yes it is, let's hope some bright spark can contact the developers and persuade them to release whatever they have

I contacted one of the Hidden developers but he hasn't been in touch with the rest of the team since they left college.
