A2000 ishues

hi guys ive just been given an old a 2000 it boots ok but i cant get a hard disk to in stall ive tryed both scsi and an ide drive ( ive contreollers for both) any ideas whats amiss or even pointers would be a grate help

Which controllers ? Which AmigaOS do you use ? Kickstart Version ?

What do you mean by "cant get it to install"

What make/model of interface cards are you using (both SCSI and IDE), ie Supra WordSync, GVP-HDC, Trumpcard, etc.

What make/model hard disks are you using?

Is it >4gb in size... Without additional hardware/patches, anything over 4gb will lead to problems...

If SCSI, is the drive ID set to anything other than 0 or 7 (because most controllers used 0 or 7 themselves)? Is the cable properley terminated

If IDE, is the Master/Slave jumper set correctly?

Are the cards seen by the Amiga (press both mouse buttons on boot up, check the expansion card diags bar)

Does it come with card specific installer software - ie GVP comes with FAASTPREP?

Does the Workbench Installer (v2.x and above) see the hard disk, and partition it?

Does an icon for the hard disk appear on-screen, it should say NDOS, which you then format, but might be gibberish if the partitioning didnt work. Or nothing at all if the drive is not installed...
