SimCity 2000 AGA in WinUAE + Picasso96

Can't make it work under Picasso96: it crashes and shows corrupt gfx. No problem using PAL/NTSC mode keeping pressed SHIFT key at launch...

Ideas, suggestions...? Can't be run under P96 RTG?

Bottom line, it's not RTG friendly. You have to use a native screenmode.

(It's a very sloppy port.)

Or you could use the mac version in shapeshifter. It's way faster and supports rtg.

Ah, ok.. the game on startup gives me also RTG screen options. Disappointing.
On WinUAE 060 + JIT + layers.library 45.30 (31-Lug-2018) or better, is very fast.

Ooops, unfortunately forgot Amiga version (already patched with Aminet patch) was also buggy: example below clicking on a city Library and then Ruminate button:

It’s deceptive. It’s partially system friendly in that it does use the display database to allow selecting a screen mode, but the graphics drawing routines don’t properly use the OS. I don’t know whether it’s because they deliberately bang the hardware, whether it’s because they pre-date RTG standards, or whether it’s because of hastily-written and poorly tested code. Or all of the above.

You can promote it to use an RTG screen by using ModePro with the "Force Planar" option enabled.

Please, re-read above. The game already supports RTG screens, but the result is trashed gfx. Only native screen res seem to work fine.

What is it you think I don't understand?

Hardly sounds like RTG is supported does it?

But all is not lost, just re-read what I wrote above and you will have the info you need to run the game on an RTG screen without gfx problems.

Oh! It works! Never used ModePro and its unique "Planar" option!

Force Planar
This option will force the display memory for the screen to be allocated as bitplanes. This may be needed to promote some programs which expect the Amiga's standard planar graphics to graphics cards whose displays are generally chunky.
Sorry, but I thought ModePro was just like any other screen promoter, but indeed is the only one I've ever seen with that useful additional feature!
Nice discovery for me, thank you !

No known fix for the Text3000, 3001, 3002 when clicking Ruminate button in the libraries?

And force planar lets Sysinfo to run on RTG screens without corruption - at least the old 3.2x versions.

Yep, it can be a very useful unique feature for a screen promoter on the Amiga, since many programs bang bitplanes directly...
