I first played it on the ST. Years later I played it on the Amiga and from memory it seems just the same. It's not bad I guess. Can get a bit tedious at times but it can be a good bit of fun also.

I don't understand where you get the idea from that it is getting hate. There is none here whatsoever.

"sort of slow / sluggish", "lacking some speed and that makes it more boring", "just okay", "lacks variety", "wanted the disk to be unprotected else was not working", "missing racers on Amiga always annoyed me". Maybe not hate, but many complaints.

Of course the exact same game on the ZX Spectrum or C64 would be swooned over, but but we must be critical of the Amiga because it could always have done better (unless it couldn't, in which case that's Commodore's fault for not making the hardware powerful enough).

Exactly, no need for hyperbole. They are called "fair criticisms". Despite them you can still like the game as many in this thread do.

I got Buggy Boy in 1989 as part of the TenStar pack. Sure, it seems a bit tame today compared to later Amiga racing games, but it was a decent conversion of the arcade game, albeit 'smaller'. Good fun 30 years ago!
