Old manual uploads

In this 6 years old thread I uploaded a bunch of manuals to the Zone:

https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=85713

However, back then they didn't appear on HOL (at least not right away, I'm not sure if some were added later), and I didn't get any replies to the thread either. I guess that back then there wasn't anyone who would actively handle new contributions, and so I just made my uploads, hoping that someone would look at them later, and then eventually forgot the whole thing.

And I just checked all the games mentioned in that thread, and some of them now have manuals, but not all. The following games still don't have a manual: Welltris, World Tour Golf, and Wayne Gretzky Hockey 2. And also the three Microdeal games, Leatherneck, Karate Kid 2 and Intenational Soccer, have a different looking manual than what my versions have.

So my question is, do these 6 year old uploads still exist in the depths of that Zone / FTP server thingy, so that someone might check them out, or would they need to be uploaded again ?

They still exist in 'TheZone/files/_2017' on the file server thanks to Turran's backup script Thank you for letting me know

I'm just adding a couple of manuals, but I'll have a look at them afterwards.

If you find/scan any more manuals in the future the better place to upload them so that they aren't overlooked is the HOL FTP:

Thanks. Better late than never.

Those 3 Microdeal manuals are from the original releases, which might be mentioned in the descriptions. The International Soccer manual is from the totally green box that is marked on HOL as "UK / U.S. Release 1", the Leatherneck manual is from the totally blue box that only has the Microdeal logo, and the Karate Kid 2 manual is from the totally black box that only has the Microdeal logo and is marked as "Original Release" on HOL.

Also I just checked some of my old contributions that were uploaded to HOL at those times, and in these 3 games the manuals / instructions have been put to the "Miscshot" instead of "Manual":

Eco
https://hol.abime.net/2824/miscshot

Projectyle
https://hol.abime.net/1167/miscshot

Blastar
https://hol.abime.net/141/miscshot

I guess they were put to "Miscshot" because in the case of Projectyle and Blastar at least the manual is on the backside of the game poster. But maybe these should be moved under the "Manual" category, since these are the only manuals these game have ?

I'll check my collection to see if something still isn't on HOL...although it's mainly just some boring stuff, like the manual for Shaq Fu and so on, but maybe I'll find the motivation to scan them.

I changed the order, added the info to the manuals and to the boxes were needed plus changed the International Soccer box info. It's interesting what happens when you look at the different entries from the same publisher at the same time. Thank you for the info

Thanks.

Also I just noticed a small mistake in the Karate Kid 2 disk comments.

https://hol.abime.net/2546/diskscan

This disk:

Now has a comment "Budget Release (Software Direct)" under it.

But that disk is from my original release box. (that same totally black box from where the manual came from)

The disks in my original International Soccer and Leatherneck boxes look like that too, with the texts printed directly on the disk.
