Roadshow help
I am trying to set up roashow on amiga 1200 connecting to a BT Hub
Roadie shows all connections available and confgured apart from point to point The BTHub shows a device connected to port but no device in the devices tab I'm using a plipbox to connect.is this being blocked by a firewall on the amiga as when i ping my PC i get no answer but if i ping from the pc to amiga i get 2 time outs and 2 destination host unreachable. |

Can you give a bit more info about what kind of device a BT hub is and how it is supposed to be used?
The Plipbox in its current version works as an ethernet device, so it should be normal that no point to point part is involved, unless you are using ppp over ethernet. Regarding firewall, there is no firewall enabled by default in Roadshow. |

Ok so BT hub is a ADSL2+.VDSL2.Gfast router it has a page in it web page which shows events so i can see the pilpbox conecting and disconnecting on the port.
Bit of history i also tried with Miami DX but both this and Roadshow would not pick up the DNS so had to assign static ip is there a firewall with Miami as i think i tried that first. i have read the thread and do not think it is of help as i had all ready done that and Roadie reports on shownetstatus as i said above. In s: i have a drawer IPF which contains 2 files ipf.rules and ipnat.rules are these connected to a fire wall |

yes its set up as 192.168.1.254 as gateway and DNS server
the band is 1.64 to 1.253 i'm set at 1.84 i have tried with the hub firewall disabled. Pinged my PC in Roadie 3 sent 3 droped The event log shows device connect to port 3 but no IP address so the only thing i can think of is there is nothing coming from amiga hence question about a firewall |

I agree with Boing-Ball. If you can't ping your Amiga it looks like a hardware or software issue.
The IPF folder in S: does contain firewall rules but by default it will not block pings etc (at least on my setup). What does this command show? Code:
traceroute 8.8.8.8 |

My plipbox wouldn't transfer any data on either my A500 or A1200 until I disabled its burst mode.

Just a update still not connected but just got round to trying again. Ran scopedos before
starting Roadie to start Roadshow and it keeps failing looking for Env:localhost and Env:localdomain could anyone yell me how these are set up please. I know they should go in one of the text files but don't know the format. Thank you for any help. |

I know this probably won't help but I had issues getting Roadshow to connect with my BT Hub. I was using a PCMCIA WiFi card.
After trying for weeks to get it working, I ended up using a 3Com PCMCIA ethernet card and MiamiDX which worked first time. Someone on Mastodon had similar issues getting Roadshow to connect via WiFi card as well. I really 'dumbed' down my router settings for Roadshow and used static IP , but it kept dropping. |

Hi I'm back again with more trials and go rounds.
After trying all above I had a go at reflashing the plipbox Avedude reported that it had worked then I tried to access with Tera Term and all I get is lines that look like Korean not the welcome message i.e. Welcome to plipbox {version.date} and no means to get the control > Anyone Know what is going on ? Please |

Sounds like your baud rate is wrong.
From the Setup menu select Serial Port. Change the speed. Probably 9600 or 115200 but try them all. Last edited by nogginthenog; 29 May 2023 at 16:41. Reason: More Info |

Getting somewhere
So yes you were both correct it was the wrong baud rate in Tera Term so I changed it to the same as I had used in Avedude and got the correct response.
So now when I run Tera Term i get this :- Still unable to ping across amiga-pc or pc to amiga the only thing is the address on the plipbox T1 in Tera Term is different to that in the amiga software is this normal plus i take the * number at the end of the lines in the term is the required speed and I'm not reaching it. This is a learning curve for me. A1200,Blizzard 1260 and plipbox OS3.14 Thank You for any help you can give me |

Hello again
Still trying to connect my 1200 to the internet but in the mean time have got a Pistormlite lovely piece of kit ,with this I gave CaffineOS a go connected straight away with MiamiDX. But would like to do my own install . installed Miami on a fresh OS install still no connection even with Caffine MiamiDX settings copied across. Swaped SD back and connected so there is nothing wrong with the Plipbox . Anybody got any ideas Thanks. |
