Input Problems with WinUAE...

I've just installed the latest WinUAE on Win XP Pro and I'm having some problems setting up the input.

I've installed the ROM's (1.3 and 3.0) and downloaded a game (Project X) but I can't for the life of me setup the inputs properly.

I've trawled through this board, the FAQ's and the documentation, so if someone can point me to the correct document I'd be very grateful

All I want to do is setup the cursor keys as up/down/left/right and the alt or ctrl keys as fire. I've played with the input and game i/o ports tabs but no matter what I select I can't seem to get any response from the keyboard.

I've read that sometimes the version of ROM you use can be a problem but I've tried both 1.3 and 3.0 and the same thing happens.

If someone could write a quick noddy guide to setting the keyboard up I'd be very grateful

Hello cusimar9,

Not sure why it's not working for you, sounds like you doing things right by going to Game and I/O Ports...

Anyway, all you should have to do is load your config or game and then do the following:

Click Game and I/O Ports from under Host, select [/B]Keyboard Layout B[/B] (see attached) and then OK.

ProjectX works fine with KS 1.3...

Thanks! I tried everything EXCEPT setting port 1 up with the Keyboard instead of port 0

Cheers

On a side note...

On Project X it keeps deciding to select random weapons for me even though I'm not pressing space... any idea?

Hmmm, haven't seen that one before. Have you tried downloading other versions?

I use Project-X (1992)(Team 17)[cr Nemesis][t +1 Nemesis] and it doesn't have the behaviour you're talking about.

Ah thanks, I'm on an IBM Thinkpad and I think the pad-sensor thing was somehow interfering

It still randomly selects things for me, but not as much as before

Downloaded the very you mentioned, its the same

Hmmm, I use an IBM ThinkPad T30... but I have an external keyboard plugged in.

I'll give it a try without the external keyboard tonight and let you know how I go.
