Vista folder default view
Since its fashionable to get on your nerves with silly requests at the moment Toni, I thought I would add my own.
Default folder view when using browse in winuae on vista, could this be changed to "details" instead of "list"? ADFs have stupidly long names and I always have to change to "details" view if you know what I mean to read the whole filename. I am not at my vista machine at the moment to screencap what I am talking about so I hope you understand. |

It uses whatever mode explorer uses. Note that Vista likes to forget the listing mode randomly. (this is fixed in Win7)
AFAIK there is no programmable way to change the listing mode. (and it would be bad idea because it is user's choice) Dialogs do miss some nice to have features, like ability to remember old vertical position in long list of files. |

Thanks for the reply Toni. I see no benefit to sticking with Vista any longer on this rig anyway.

Bugs the crap out of me in Win7 - I have to click on the file list before I can use the mousewheel to scroll down to the ADF I need. Usually ends up with at least two rolls of the wheel before I figure it out. Why does explorer not focus the file list as a default?

You may try this. It's based on the XP trick "Increase Cache for Customized Folders " I think.
In my TweakUI-like program for Vista, it's just a matter of ticking "Remember View for more Folders" (makes system remember more folder views). The program is shareware but it won't revert the settings once it expires. Maybe this can be moved to OTT. Last edited by NewDeli; 17 June 2010 at 01:12. |
