How do I align icons in Workbench 1.3?
I have an Amiga 500 with a Hard Drive with Workbench 1.3 installed.
I am doing clean up/snapshot to align the icons, which works, until you close and re open the window, as the icons are messed up again ![]() How do I fix this please, it is driving me crazzzzy! ![]() |

I'm not sure anymore, because I didn't use 1.3 for the last 20 years, but you could try this:
Hold the Shift key down and ... Select All Free Position Clean Up SnapShot release the Shift key |

Ok, then click on the icons while you hold the Shift key down
and don't release it before SnapShot is finished Btw, are your icons, the #?.info files, writable, is the W flag set ? Last edited by PeterK; 15 September 2013 at 13:13. |

Sorry, maybe I don't remember the 1.3 procedure correctly anymore ?
Did you check the W flag of the icons ? Quote:

I dont think I have to select icons to make them 'snapshot'? Just the window?

No, I think you really have to select the icons on WB 1.3 before you click SnapShot.

Indeed, this was the trick. Now to find a commodity or menu hack that gives you Clean Up + Select All + Snapshot under 1.3
![]() There is actually a way to do the whole "harddisk", if you do some scripting and piping to noIconPos (on a Fish disk). This removes the saved positions so that AmigaDOS 1.3 arranges them automatically (until you position them manually + select + snapshot again). |
