I am using WinUAE and the Amiga Forever software that includes "Kick Start".The question remains how do I launch a game program downloaded as an .adf file mounted on DF0?

It depends.
If the diskette (the adf image) is bootable it'll loads itself when inserted and rebooted. When there's a single file proggie on it (the adf image) for example, you might have to run Workbench first, and run the proggie yourself. ---=== EDITED ===--- You know, it would *really* helped us solve the problem if you've said what adf/proggie *exactly* you want to run Last edited by Shoonay; 09 January 2008 at 07:32. |

OK. Here is the sequence I use to attempt running a program. After launching WinUAE, I "F12" and "load a media" into DF0. Displaying what I have previously loaded to WinDH_C, I select "Odyssey-4.adf and load into DF0. After loading, an icon labeled DF0:Busy is displayed. I cannot go any further.
I'm a new Amiga user and have not been able to run programs of any type. |

So, you launch WinUAE, press [Start], wait for it to boot and then insert the adf, right?
You're doing it wrong, try running WinUAE, now insert the adf into [DF0:] and than press [Start] |

I launch WinUAE, load the .adf file into DF0 and a DF0 Busy icon is displayed. What do you mean by "Start"? What "button" or action is that?
Thank you |

To load most games you boot from the disk directly, all this df0:busy sounds like you are loading workbench first.
Start winuae with an a500 configuration, no harddrives in the harddrive section and put the first disk of the game you are trying to load in df0: |

By [Start] I mean that button that starts the prefered configuration after runnin WinUAE, of course...
What version of WinUAE you have? There's 1.4.5 the newest IIRC. The DF0: busy icon has no right to appear unless you're in workbench already, and as I assume you're running a NDOS game, you're already "too far". What exactly do you do when you double-click on the WinUAE icon? Doesn't it wait for you to select the config, and insert disks, and such? It is suppose to... |

"Odyssey-4.adf"
That sounds like disk 4 of a multi-disk game. Try "Odyssey-1.adf" instead. |

Geez, right... didn't spot that, thanks LocalH!
I might also add, that almost every time you load a multi-disk game, no matter if you were already on the 6th disk (par example), you still have to start loading the game from the 1st one. Yes, there are exceptions, like Settlers, for example, can be loaded from the 3rd disk. |

You started AmiKit with the AmigaOS on a virtual hardisk. Try this little tutorial if you want to play plain disk games, not preinstalled HD games.
