I'm a PC idiot! Please help me configure...

Hi!
I am a MAC man, but has bought a PC to run emulations on GAMEBASE.
And I have a LOT of problems getting it to work properly. I must have spent at least 15 hours up to this point.

I humbly ask that a merciful soul will answer a few questions:

• What are .dat file for and where do I place them?

• When I download the games from http://gbamiga.elowar.com/files/Miscellaneous/, should I then gather all the files in a GAMES directory in folders A, B, C etc.

• When I launch games from gamebase to WinUAE, they ignore my WIN UAE configurations completely ... what can I do?

• Where in the structure should I place WHD files?

• Is there a place where I can download a complete structure (folders with Games, screenshots etc. so I won't have to put it together myself. I obviously suck at it.

Thank you very, very muc!

Dat files are used with a tool like ClrMAMEPro which is a tool to scan and see if it recognises your existing game collection, if you've downloaded all the games from the gamebase amiga site though then you don't need to use the dat. however the main dat zips on the site also contain bat files which will sort your files for you into the correct directories.

So yes put all your games ADFS into a games directory and either move them yourself into lettered subdirs or use the batch files provided.

There's only one winuae configuration used for all the adf games, so if you are trying to use your own it won't work, you need to edit the GameBase Amiga.uae file which is in your GameBase Amiga directory if you want to change anything like the default screen resolution and remember to save it back to the same location.

WHDLoad games go into Extras\WHDLoad\

edit: p.s. you posted this in the wrong section, can a global mod put it in project.mage please.

You can see the proper directory layout here
