WTB 2mb Agnus (PAL)
As stated in the title, I am looking for a 2mb (PAL) Agnus chip for my newly acquired Phoenix board, i.e.

@Kristian95
a sad thing to say but your better bet would be to buy an A600 motherboard and butcher the components... however I will say good luck on your quest my friend |

Just learned that I can only use the 8372AB (318069-03) Agnus..... apparantly oneĀ“of the 8375 should be compatible, is that true? and in case, which one is it?

I have a PAL 2meg agnus on the way from Holland atm, to swap out the NTSC one in my megAchip, if all goes well I should have a spare NTSC 2meg agnus I could get rid of soon.

I already have one for my GBA1000 project, so it's not for that one
I recently got hold of one of the original Phoenix boards (well from the batch made for the Germans a few years back) and it came bare of ICs, so I need a 2mb Agnus (8372, PAL) for it |

Sorry to kinda hi-jack your thread Kristan but my 390544-01 PAL agnus just arrived is this not compatible with the MegAChip which comes with a 318069-11 agnus because of the pin shifted thing?
I am wanting to convert the MegAChip to PAL of course. The photo on BBoAHW shows the megachip using the NTSC version of the 390544. http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showha...cgi?HARDID=992 Last edited by T_hairy_bootson; 11 November 2008 at 08:41. |

DKB wrote on usenet there were many versions of Megachip designed for different Agnus versions using whatever was cheapest at the time.
Does your Megachip PART NUMBER match the one on BBoAH? |

I bet you the -04 and the -05 are slightly different version PCB's to use the two different Agnus pinouts?
Or it could just be an update/fix (as yours is later). Interesting. |

I take it you did not try the new 390544-01 Agnus?
Did you not want to risk damage? I am unsure as to what the risk is... but I would probably not risk it myself. A new Agnus is cheaper than a new Amiga & Megachip |

@THB
dont do it m8... the VCC lines are set accross too... so you could easly damage the chip and addressing on the Amiga / adapter with 5 volts of juice. (sorry to be the barer of bad news m8) you will need a 318 series agni chip, although one could build an adapter fitting it would be.... bloody hard to make it.. have a look here for more detail. the above comes from this thread http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=37744 |
