[Request] Turrican 1 - Rework
It would be great to see an update for this classic game. The current WHDload-Install dates back to 1998.
I've posted a bug-report a few years ago (pre-Mantis), but there haven't been any updates since then. As far as I remember, I've experienced some screen flashing when going down the canyons in Level 1-1. And maybe something could be done about the slowdowns on faster systems. CD32-Pad support would be a nice addition for Energy Lines (Space) and Granades (AMIGA - ALT - F7). So if anyone's got the time/motivation to work on this, that would be awesome. |

Just curious... which improvements will the updated version contain? It runs fine for me, but has some cosmetic flaws at least on a 060 cpu. I.e. the Rainbow Arts logo animation breaks premature and so does the the talking/laughing voice at the beginning. Also the nice title screen could use a button wait option.

Actually I'm playing Turrican (last game in amiga series to finish) so I'm looking forward to see new slave.
Indeed game sometimes slowdowns but not too much. So far (alien world) I didn't encounter any bugs. |

Turrican with full cd32 pad support will be AMAZING! Would it be possible to update the slaves for Turrican 2 and 3 with the same button remap fix for cd32 pad?

No, have to use alt key to trigger grenades. Would be much better playability if everything could be accessed from the cd32 pad. Goes for all 3 turricans.

T3 Second fire for smart bomb in joystick mode
T2 Pressing Fire and Space or Second Fire button simulatane ously............ and I think you can do everything with CDTV T1 but thats enough looking at Manuals from HOL - Also I dont think theres a WHDload install for T1 CDTV but it does install anyway but I get graphic glitches on my A1200 - So WHDload patch would be good. Looking at T1 normal manual is does mention second fire button but dont know if you can trigger everything. Im not a huge Turrican 1 & 2 fan some of the colours are yuck. Would it be possible to remap the jump function from joystick to one of the cd32 buttons? It would be fantastic with a four button 32cd version of turrican!

Given the delay between Wepl's update it seems reasonable to infer that he/she is way too busy with other things.
Also, if this trend is maintained, you will have better chances of seeing it happen by learning to code. As I keep saying: "be the change you want to see in the world", that is usually the best way to get what you want: make it happen. (*) (*) I did not invent that saying obviously. |
