Spurious checksum errors

Despite reformatting my workbench partition and reinstalling 3.9, I'm still getting spurious checksum errors. I have set the maxtransfer to 0x01fffe to no effect. I ran a ram test and it doesn't report any errors (which is the best to use?). The computer appears to work fine most of the time, but I got some file corruption when installing boingbag 1 (makedir and something else got hosed).

A2000 rev 4.3 with 1k resistor on U605, kickstart 3.1, GVP 030+SCSI 40 MHz, Buddha Flash controller with 2 GB SanDisk CF card, GVP Spectrum graphics card, X-Surf 2 network card. Oh, and I've replaced the PSU with an ATX unit.

Any ideas what's causing it or how I can pinpoint the problem? Disksalv shows no errors when I check.

Could be caused by ripple on the +5V line, too. Check PSU and capacitors.

Bad contact or busted SCSI terminator are other common causes.

Did you press return after setting maxtransfers?
A lot of people don't do it and you should.

Good point, I'll swap with a known good just to be sure.

The original PSU was bad, which is why I swapped it with a good ATX PSU. Unfortunately I don't have a scope, so I can't check ripple.

IDE, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Good question. I'll check if the values stuck in HDToolBox.

Thanks all, I'll see if any of it helps.

Original capacitors are a common fail cause.

HDToolBox values were correct, so no luck there...
