interesting pricing, especially on the A1200 , it was more expensive in 1995 than at any time since its launch, even in 1992 it was only £379, £20 cheaper than in 1995, im guessing this was the Escom model ? still rather strange how they priced it.
As for the Acorn went from £499 down to £160 in the space of 3 years!! and over £200 cheaper than the previous year. |

Yep the Archimedes was basically clearance pricing by then, game over for most non PC tech by 1995. Though the Archimedes at least had some software support, the same cant be said for that 1MB Atari Falcon model, a total of 4 boxed games spread out over 2 years were released for it, made the A1200 look not as bad a buy as some make out! |

Oh to have bought an Acorn Archimedes A3010 in 1995 or later (and removed the battery).
Their self destruct mechanism (battery leak almost as bad as A500+) lots of press during lockdown with GadgetUK repairing several of them, means A30x0 have quadroupled in value in a very short space of time :-( |

I don't get why the STE was so bloody expensive. It included a couple of extra chips but they can't have been so expensive as to add 100 to the cost.

Well it was Atari’s proper answer to the Amiga 500, so i guess they wanted it aimed more at the A500 price when people compare them in shops, that along with they probably had surplus stocks of normal ST’s they couldn’t flog past a certain time which were aimed at a much lower price, but i’m not sure when the ST was discontinued but shops were still selling them in 1993.

Classic Archimedes prices had dropped considerably by 1995 because Acorn was pushing the RiscPC instead
