Best game music composer?

Who's the best - Hülsbeck (Turrican, Apidya, Monkey Island, etc.) or Uematsu (Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy and also Final Fantasy)? Or someone else?

Although I like the Final Fantasy music for me Chris Hülsbeck made the 'better' tunes
There are many good composers on the Amiga To name a few :
David Whittaker
The Wright Brothers
Martin Iveson

Hard decision between these two, not to mention all the others you forgot...
Huelsbeck is incredible in technical/disco/intrumental tunes, Uematsu's best at philharmonic atmospheric themes.
I like both, I tried to gather everything they ever composed in every possible arrangement...

Currently I'm way too much into Amiga, it's been a while since I've played any Fainal Fantasy, so, just because I miss Uematsu's themes... I vote for him.

I didn't forget the others - I just don't know any other game composer...
(except maybe Jochen Hippel and that Japanese guy who created Silent Hill 2's great soundtrack)

"Iveson" sounds somewhat familiar.

Also voted Uematsu (FFVI and FFVII have incredible music) although I consider Hülsbeck just as good (in fact I still think the music of the whole Amiga Turrican series is the best gaming music ever).

Well i am not talking current composers, although maybe they "are" making music on other games, but people like Matt Gray & Jereon Tel from the C64 days definitely are in my Top 10 list as well Huelsbeck

I've yet to hear a bad Huelsbeck-tune. They're all great. Even Gem'X or Giana Sisters.

Didn't he also do the score for the movie Phenomenon?

I'll vote when there are more composers in the Poll, just like Retro-Nerd's list above

btw. It's a very small poll, could this one be one of the smallest or is there a one to beat it????

Yup, the list was a bit small so I've updated it with all names mentioned so far

I hope that's ok with you john4p? If not I can change it back to how it was...
