For all those wondering, i'm actually doing this, but I have to do something else first to ensure it will run. As Meynaf has already pointed out, the code in Sundog is HORRIFIC, its really no fun at all because of the mix of languages they used. So I had a brainwave of how to get it to work, and that brainwave is actually working to some degree, just a few stability issues and having to reduce memory requirements so that Sundog will actually fit into a 1 Meg A500. This is no two second endeavour. |

Sounds entirely reasonable to me. :-)

Awesome, Phill. As ever, very much appreciate the work and mad skills (down with the kids) involved. Well, I say I appreciate them, but how can I when basically it is sorcery as far as I'm concerned? :-)

It surprised me that Sundog had never been ported unofficially, you'd think a game without 'action' would be easier to convert than things like Oids or Metrocross, but this explains why. Is there an Apple ][ emulator for the Amiga, that can be used partially if some old ][ code is left in there? Presumably emulating GEM directly enough to access the code directly wouldn't be feasible?

Meynaf might be the person to ask this if he's interested, he did the Oids port which to my understanding "simply" runs the ST code on an A1200. I might be wrong though. Still, an Amiga native port would be amazing to have for many reasons. I hope the project has not been abandoned. |

I keep hoping Galahad will come through with this. I hope his plans bear fruit someday. It's definitely a challenge, from all the descriptions -- you'd have to have some sort of TOS/GEM ABI shim in it it seems like.
