I'm reading franchise material. Maybe a series of children's books that get turned into movies, cartoons and TV shows.

Not necessarily retro, but my review of the amazing Dark Souls Remastered is up. Check it out if you wish.

Happy New Year everyone. Thanks for all your support and encouragement!

I'm weird. My favourite area in Dark Souls is Blighttown. It used to be the most hated area because it would tank the framerate on consoles and PCs at the time below 5fps, but on modern hardware this is no longer the case and in the remastered version that problem has been fixed entirely anyway.

There is something about the verticality in not only Blighttown but also the Great Hollow and the fact that death is literally on your tail the entire time because of the poison and deadly drops if you take a wrong step on the way down or up. Also: literally every enemy is so terrible it feels amazing to murder the heck out of them. Blasted mosquitos, those venom dart spitting creatures, fire breathing dogs... brrr.

I can't say I enjoyed Blighttown myself. I did like how it led to Queelag's Domain, as Queelag was a fun boss fight, and I also enjoyed duking it out with the boulder lobbing giants guarding her lair. Beating Queelag also opened a path to the Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith, two of my favourite areas.

Perhaps it was because I grinded a lot early on - I tend to do this in RPGs - thus spending lots of time in the initial areas and getting alittle bored of them. I just had more fun in, and really liked the aesthetics of, locations I visited later in the game. This included Anor Londo, New Londo Ruins, the Duke's Archives and Crystal Cave.

Which boss did you think was the coolest, and which boss did you like fighting the most? I definitely liked the look of the Four Kings the best, and I really enjoyed the pure challenge of the Ornstein and Smough encounter.

Hi everyone.

Not retro, but I recently reviewed Tormentum: Dark Sorrow. I mention it because it is a point and click adventure in the style of The Secret Of Monkey Island.

Oh, and the artwork is stunning.

Hope you guys are all doing well in these challenging times.

Yikes, I completely missed that question!

Snorlax and Pikachu for sure. You may know them as Ornstein & Smough. So daunting/enraging when you have to kill them for the first time, so entertaining when you have perfected their dance moves. That fight literally is a dance.

Close follow up being Artorias, for the exact same reason.

Happens to the best of us. I completely missed your response!

That fight was definitely the most memorable. The amount of times I felt I was getting close, only to by squashed by Smough's hammer.

I liked that weapon so much that I had it forged for personal use afterwards.

Hi everyone.

Not retro, but retro-related.

I recently reviewed Doom Eternal on my blog. Check it out if interested.

It's a nice read but I just find it so hard to have any kind of discussion or opinion about these pure shooty games with almost no plot. So eh... thumbs up. Nice screenshots.
