Chiming in here for a desired CDTV release as well. I had some difficulty getting 3.1.4 working. I would like to hear more about what it would require. If it's a custom ROM, I'm already doing this.

Not beyond our already stated hope to release in the first half of the year, and that Hyperion are the ones that make the decision to release

The idea would be not to supply a Kickstart ROM for these specific machines (CDTV/CD32) but instead provide the LoadModule approach which gives users enough flexibility to tinker with modules back and forth. Of course, nothing would prevent you from building your own custom ROM to match your needs/requirements by reusing modules as you see fit.

Personally, I would recommend (only for these machines) to get a RAM expansion that provides at least 4 MB of RAM to be on the safe side. Also remember to have a suitable storage controller.

For the CDTV you will be required to have a CDTV Extended set of ROMs v2.7 (though 2.30 will work too with some limitations). CDTV-II/CDTV-CR and A570 should NOT have their CDTV Extended ROMs changed at all.

To the casual reader: this specific information is ONLY meant for the experimental CDTV/CD32 specific support that will require advanced skills.

Current Hardware Requirements for AmigaOS 3.2:

1) An Amiga model 1000, 500, 2000, 600, 1200, 3000, 3000T, 4000D or 4000T, and minor variants of those.

2) Kickstart ROM 3.1, 3.1.4 or 3.2.

3) At least 2MB of total RAM available.
Soft-loading updated OS modules combined with larger hard disk
media and additional software customizations may require additional
memory above the 2 MB mentioned. The physical 3.2 ROM will help
reduce the memory footprint of hard disk loaded modules over an
older ROM beyond other benefits.

4) A hard drive with a minimum of 10 MB of free space.

5) If you don't have AmigaOS 3.1 or better already installed, you
will require a physical copy of the "Install3.2" floppy disk. If in
addition to that, you are still using the old 3.1 Kickstart ROM
you will also require a physical copy of the "Modules" disk that
matches your hardware (All floppies should be available as ADF
images in a directory of the retail CD-ROM).

6) A CD-ROM drive unit accessible to your Amiga, or the contents of
the AmigaOS 3.2 CD-ROM copied on to an Amiga compatible storage
media

Note: AmigaOS 3.2 has been tested to work under many emulated/FPGA systems.

Yikes at number 6 floppy as an option? Or are things cdrom only for 3.2?

Please read well, those are hardware requirements.

AmigOS 3.2 was designed so that it can be delivered in all sorts of Amiga compatible media (floppies, cd-roms, hdds, CF cards, usb thumbdrives, digital download, etc) and can be easily converted between each other by any user. It will ultimately depend on retailers and Hyperion which options will be physically available for sale.

Without going to specifics, would you agree to an idea/concept such as this?

@All

Let us know. May be we can do something about CDTV/CD32 on AmigaOS 3.2 as long as you are okay with the above.
For me personally, probably not.
CDTV in particular is of course an odd piece of equipment that only a few people have/use.. But as other mentioned.. CD32 much more widely used as a primary(?) Amiga now that there are affordable accelerators available with IDE/CF.. RGB out, Keyboard connectors etc.. So if any effort is made it should be to include the CD32.

Why older versions of extended roms? 2.7 is actually older (ie 2.07) than 2.30. Most of those who has CDTV running has 2.30 version of extended roms.

What matters is not the age of the CDTV Extended ROMs, but what where they designed for.

Version 2.7 was designed for the CDTV and works acceptably.

Version 2.30 was designed for the A570 and works acceptably on the A570.

The problem is that v2.30 under some circumstances reserves a memory address range for a memory expansion on the A570, so it may "steal" fast memory on a CDTV for no reason.

Is there a return policy if the OS does not work with my setup, or is there a possibility to test it before I buy?

My setup is A3000 using 1.4 ROMs (which I like to keep and I know how to make a superkickstart image) and AS225v2 networking.

I do not want a newer physical ROM and the available networking works well for my needs.

You should contact Hyperion for demo/sales/return policy support and ask them.
