81 Year Old Commodore Amiga Artist - Samia Halaby by Amiga Bill!

Amiga Bill has just posted a fantastic interview with an artists still using the Amiga to this day to make her art.

Really refreshing to see this kind of Amiga content devoid of the nostalgia and retrogaming stuff that plagues Amiga-related YouTube.
Incredibly inspirational too, anyone ever moaning that they can't code, should take a hint from this lady and grow a spine!

Check it out and subscribe to Bill's videos, he clearly puts a lot of hard work in them:

The whole point I see is that she doesn't need a stinking turbo card! Nobody does.
What I do offer is to take care of any problem that might arise with her computer, and to back up her disks!

That woman must absolutely upload her code and executables to some friendly Amiga server to preserve her work! Not too long from now she may be considered one of the most important avanguarde artists of the late 20th century.

I think Bill is taking care of preserving her work! He said he will share some more details next Wednesday on his livestream. You better tune in and find out.

She looks like my grand'ma and has better coding skills than most of the lads I know ! Splendid.
@Akira: It seems you live in the same town. If once you meet her, please ask her an autograph for me .

I find that unlikely, but if I do meet her, I'll remember your autograph

Yes I was also very impressed about the condition of her A1000! I guess a non-smokey room that never gets any sunlight is the ideal environment for an Amiga

Bill did mention her monitor seems to be on the blink, its image being too yellow. Maybe she has a bad RGB cable. Would be happy to look into it if it ever comes to that.

That view of Manhattan at the start looks like it's from Hoboken in Jersey city? I lived there for a couple of months. I'd have thought the humidity in summer and the cold in winter wouldn't be kind to the Amiga.

Pretty sure you are right about the view frank!

People keep saying it's really humid here, but I actually think it's very mild. I feel like houses are kept well enough in extreme conditions that the Amigas thrive! Houses get dehumidified by ACs a lot in summer, but then you have lots of ESD issues (I never had them before until I moved here!)

Hey thanks so much for posting this Akira! That is really kind of you. I should probably make a thread about my videos that I can post to when I upload a new one. Believe it or not I am actually quite shy about self-promotion.

Anyway, this was a really amazing experience. Samia is so sweet I just want to hug her like my grandma. We have been doing the channel now for almost 4 years and this one experience makes the whole thing worth it. Yes, preserving her disks is key. Most of them have been converted to ADF files (Anthony was doing it while I was interviewing her). Actually the main reason why we went there in the first place was to help her archive her work, but when I found out more about her I was like, "Maybe I should bring my camera" Boy am I glad I did! Some people mentioned uploading them to Pouet which is a great idea. Her grand-niece is helping her archive all her artwork and I still have to archive a few more of her disks. I have to look closer at the monitor. You are right it could be a cable, but I am certainly not an expert with monitors or electronics.

I shot the scenics very close to Hoboken, but they are actually from Liberty State Park in Jersey City. We may have a screening/party in her studio soon and you are welcome to join us.

AMIGA4EVER!!!

Yes VERY important, this is an artist we're talking about, not a demoscener. Not sure if she would agree with putting her stuff out there. But I am sure you thought of that already!
Maybe she is so cool she agrees with the ethos of the demoscene
