I'd say drop OT-movies and OT-sports as they are hardly used; those threads can easily go into OT regular. OT-gaming is a good addition however as current gen game discussions are quite frequent in retrogaming general.
OT-gaming is also a good place to startup the EAB multiplayer gatherings again; they were heaps of fun so lets bring them back guys! |

additional: in OT regular there are frequent requests for technical help/advice; perhaps that could be abstracted into a separate OT section as well. Only venting ideas here.

I think keep Sports and Movies.
Just because they've not been much in the past, doesn't meant they won't be used much. |

Hang on guys
The OT section has just been modified slightly and I think we need to see how things pan out first before requesting additions or deletions. Not that I disagree with any suggestions, I just think we need to see how it all works first and how the general EAB members use it, then we can discuss any changes with RCK and maybe have some of these ideas implemented based on user voting. Just a thought |

I agree DH. It's good that people have so many ideas but one step at a time I think. Let's give it two or three weeks to see how it all goes, and then if anything needs to be changed I'm sure RCK is always open to improvements and ideas

I'm all for the OT-Games as long as we no longer get any attack of the spuds threads again, although it was amusing at first.....
I would also like to know if it happens to be a good OT-Games thread, could there be a mechanism in place to vote for it being stickied ??? This way if there are threads that the comminuity would like to keep they get archived instead of being auto-deleted. |

I assume now the OT General will be heavily moderated to prevent the type of threads that were popping up in OTS?
Otherwise won't the same thing just happen again in OT General? My 2c: I like OT Gaming and also think there should be OT Technical since there is a lot of non-amiga hardware issues and OS talk posted. Not too keen on Movies or Sports simply because they don't seem to get much love and I think there are such few posts regarding these topics that they can just come under OT General. |

Given that gaming, either retro or modern, is directly linked to our Amiga years, I believe it should receive a specific treatment. To take an example that would speak to RCK, with the 60 days limit, the Braid thread would have disappeared as more than two months elapsed between post #56 and post #57. As for the voting system suggested by jmmijo, although the principle is valid, I fear that would only favour some threads that interest a lot of people, whereas a thread about a genre that only a few people are interested in would probably be auto-deleted. However, as no details on the voting system have been given, maybe there is a system that would work even in the above circumstance, although I cannot think of one. This would also mean that some people like blade002 (voluntarily banned for 3 months) could miss some threads. It could even result in a re-post on the matter with some people complaining this is old news/already discussed etc... |

@Deli
Some of us have reasons. You know, lets just say "Don't rock the boat" you may get an unwanted reaction from some members. EDIT: So IMHO "LEAVE IT" |

This solution is just going back to how off-topic was originally. We've gone full circle! Even Fred has linked back to Junk Talk, which is fun but hard to keep going long term.
I still think an opt-in forum was best, like "The Zone" or social groups. It solves all issues:
Private forums work well at other boards, but perhaps RCK couldn't set such a function up easily here. Oh well, I'm done with the issue. Most of the people who posted in OTS have left now anyway, so I guess fairly serious stuff only from now on - as many have said I can go elsewhere for fun social stuff and stick to Amiga here. RCK seems to want to keep the board very Amiga focused, which is fair enough. I've been pulled into line! Last edited by Bloodwych; 24 September 2009 at 16:42. |

Great changes, RCK!
It's good to know that 'Technical' and 'Gaming' posts will be preserved for six months. |
