WARNING: AmiFTP and OS3.9 do not mix

Possibly common knowledge but I thought I'd warn the folk.

I've been setting up an OS3.9 system from scratch and got to the stage of installing an FTP client. I'd used AmiFTP in the past under 3.1 so I opted for that. But it installed a load of classes to SYS:Classes and hosed the installation

resource.library wouldn't open so many things didn't work.

I fixed it by copying the original contents of SYS:Classes from the OS3.9 CD. I'm not sure what particular file or files were to blame.

/pub/aminet/comm/tcp/AmiFTP-1.607.lha was the culprit, be warned.

Hmmmm, I´ve just used AmiFTP yesterday on OS3.9 ..... no problem here .....

AmiFTP is horrid anyway. Use ATC or NCFTP.

@RetroMan: I think it was during the install it copied in some classes to SYS:Classes that were incompatible with OS3.9. It might work OK using the "proper" OS3.9 versions of these, I didn't try.

@adolescent: I've switched to ATC now anyway, very nice program
