OS3.9 Preferences Not Being Saved
Hi I finally managed to install OS3.9 into WinUAE. I am using a directory of my Windows hard drive as the Amiga hard drive but when I change the OS preferences and press save it isn't saved, next time I reboot the settings are lost. Is there something I need to do for it save my preferences ?
Thanks G |

Open an AmigaDOS shell and enter
protect sys:#? +wd all when the command is executed, reboot the Amiga, then try again. |

Depending on how you mounted 3.9 CD for install the files are write protected
type in shell: cd sysrefs/env-archive/sys list here the files should have ----rwed or ----rw-d if not type: protect #?.prefs wd or for all files protect #? wd hope this helps you EDIT:test that first and now i'm 10 mins too late Last edited by tero; 05 January 2010 at 16:24. |

That's may your cd0(cd2) file in sys:devs/dosdrivers
open it with editpad and change unit to 0 if you have more then one (cd?) delete all but keep the one for your cd drive (cd0) EDIT:Where's the question bout scsiuae gone? Last edited by tero; 05 January 2010 at 16:02. |

Sorry I made a mistake. I think the origin of this problem is some errors I get on start up which when I cancel them in order I don't get the configured screen settings. One window says "Intuition is attempting to reset the workbench screen please close all windows except drawers" I guess that reset would set my screen preferences ? The second window says "Cannot open uaescsi.device unit 2". If I close the second one first it works. Any ideas about this uaescsi.device problem ?

There was also an old package on Aminet, but for OS3.1. Maybe it could be useful for you anyway as your file protection bits could be messed up: http://aminet.net/biz/patch/FixWB31.lha
