missing sounds and music in game?????
Hi guys,
I have just been playing Paradroid 90 via adf on my miggy1200. However halfway through a game certain sounds such as lift sounds and lasers ans explosions stopped working. I have to turn cpu cache off and adjust graphics settings to get it to load. i have turned the miggy off for five mins and reloaded however it is just as bad with the guitar missing from the title music and what sounds like a channel missing. could this be the 030 card ? can i diable the 030 whilst still rebooting to OCS? it was working fine yesterday - please dont tell me my 1200 hardware is messed up PZ |

you aren't gonna believe me now....
I have had my miggy set up in the front room linked to the CRT TV using the composite jack. I just went to pack it up and when I pulled the red auido jack aout of the miggy it made a loud crackle come out of the tv speakers. I had powered off the miggy and it was not conected to the psu or anything else. I took it up the loft to box it up and thought I would give it one last try. So conected it to my other crt tv using the rgb scart lead. it now works fine - i have all sounds back?????????????????? intermitant fault? should I still send it back? shall i give them a call? could it still be a faulty capacitor ? i am still getting very random boot times - sometimes as long as 4 mins and other times so long i get sick os waiting and reboot? Pz or am i obsessing over nothing? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH think this maybe a psu issue. just unplugged my old a500 psu and had a crackling noise and blue sparks shoot out of the plug where the cable runs in. smell of ionised air too. I have taken 030 out and put my 22watt a1200 psu back in and i get normal boot times. hope nothing is fried. going to rewire the plug on a500 psu an cut off a good section of cable - - is it possible loss of sound channel was a -12v issue. jeeze guys this is freaking me Last edited by pubzombie; 19 February 2009 at 18:56. I have just had to cut a good 25cm off the cable. the plastic coating has degraded and is very brittle. think this may have something to do with it.
can a psu be faulty and have -12v issues while the rest runs ok? will that account for random and massive boot times of up to 5mins? Pz |

If it's really an PSU issue you should get one of these. It works on my A1200/A500 since years. Maybe Amigakit has it in stock.

I am using one of these. It seems better now its been rewired. no more sparking and no more 4min boot times. I am still getting varied boot times though. they are either 11 secons or 39 seconds is this normal. these times are from a cold boot - i.e the machine is turned off for a few mins.
cheers Pz |

You have a KS 3.1 machine? The booting time is a bit longer than for 3.0 Amigas, it takes maybe 30 seconds for a cold boot.

Without the Blizzard 1230 IV? Sound pretty fast for a KS 3.1 Amiga, unless you use the maprom feature which speeds up the cold boot.
