gotek rotary not working

i purchased an amiga 1200 with gotek already installed. it seems to be working except the roitary dial will not change disks when turning.
the rotary push button works but not the dial itself. i can select disks with the gotek buttons which is not as nice as the rotary.
cannot see any issuesd wsith the wiring.
does anyone have any suggestions?

is the rotary on a pcb?
If so does it have resistors on it , and if it does is the 3.3v connected?
what is the rotary set to in the menu.

tbh i have only checked the wiring inside from the gotek to the top of the case
to check the wiring to the rotary itself i will need to remove the box from the top of the case which seems to be glued on.
i'm not sure what the rotary is set to in the menu, how do i check this?
i have installed goteks with the box oled and rotary before in my amiga 500 and atari ste with no issues but as this one was preinstalled i'm not sure what obvious things to look for.
the flashfloppy fw version is 3.22 so maybe that should be updated?
