Game files naming convention?
Hey all,
I've been downloading a few games where my old disks are no longer working. I'm having mixed results, and i'm starting to understand partially why, but i need a definitive answer to complete my understanding. This is one of the main sites i've been using to source files from: https://www.planetemu.net/roms/commo...miga-games-adf I've downloaded games from here, which in some cases, they do nothing. I'm now starting to understand that i shouldn't download anything with "AGA" in the name as this seems to be for CD32 or some other more powerful machine than my Amiga 500 (1Mb). But my question is; is there a definitive understanding to what all the other abbreviations in the file names actually mean? i.e. "cr CSL", "t" "+4" "[a]" "[a2]" and so on and so fourth. I'm starting to see that in some cases, the language is specified with "Sp" for spanish or "De" for German etc. But i can't find a KEY on the website itself. Or is it that there is no standardisation on there, and the names are just made up by the people who've provided them in the first place? I just want to understand what not to waste my time with if it wont work on my machine i.e. if its not an English A500 title. Thanks in advance! |

A while ago I wondered also because I didn't find a key to this on the site.
After some lookaround it's quite logical though: Code:
(Year)(Publisher)(AGA)(Language) .. explains itself [cr][cr Group] .. cracked/cracked by Group [a][a2]..alternative imagine you have two slightly different dumps but no fast method to detemine which is better/correct. Also often seen with savegame disks. [b]..bad dump (maybe better than nothing, but not okay) [f AGA]..Aga fix [h]..hacked [m#]..multilanguage [t]..trained [v]..virus (be careful if hdd attached) [!]..verified ok |
