Hi.

My very first post on this forum. Not sure if this is the right place to come. Anyway... I have been an active Amiga user since day dot I guess and I have a very large collection. I have an active website and update it regularly. There is a blog 'scuzzblog' showing what I have been doing and of late disks of my favourite games, utilities and demos.

So why not pop along some time. This week I have been mostly getting an A1200 tower back into the system and mucking around with digitizers. Always something to do.

Just to keep you uptodate I have been struggling with my hosting supplier all year and have finally decided to switch companies. The site orginally grew from a few pages I structured around the frames and then just grew and grew and grew. If you click the New Version icon on the Content frame you will go to a more mobile telephone friendly version.

Frames became a nightmare to be honest but I have left the original version which I call classic and the newer version so vistors can choose which they want to use.

The whole site is written in Notepad by me so all home grown. I use no web tools. Just edit pictures in an application called Thumbs and create in the text editor. I did use to upload with Terrapin but wont work anymore.

There are no adverts on my site... that is more of an achievement in 2016. So much so that I have had to dump my previous web hosting company cus of rogue advertising companies.

Interestingly I used HTML in very much the same way as I use AmigaGuide. I needed a way to access files and view documents on the PC. I bought a very small book which I still have here and started to create my very own local intranet which was never connected to the internet. It started back in 1996 and has grown from a single frame that I created that day. Today it holds the combined worth of all that I have sourced from the internet with volumes and volumes of documents folders images videos etc all accessible from a simple menu.

So if I ever want to look at information on anything I just open my local files from the browser fire up navigate and from the various menus can access files across all of my hard drives linked to this computer. Its like the brain om me in a data store. I have an extension of this on the Amiga and all my computers are networked. Bit like VIKI in iRobot.

The website became a simple extension to that and the frames persisted.

I did use AMOS for a while as a file management tool along with DOpus and even InfoNexus. However AmigaGuide was the best. HTML on the PC is just incredible given that you can create links in HTM that will run all your files, allow you to access all your folders and view all your images and videos from a simple task created in Notepad. It really is all I do. What is even more wonderful is the way you can interogate any page on the internet, save code, save files, save gifs, save images and videos and then simply import them into your documents for private use.

I love HTM it really is the gift to mankind that nobody owns, though I am troubled by the way Google believe they now run things on the web. I did fear Microsoft taking control but I fear more Google. They have their fingers in everything. We need to keep the internet free.... totally free from control. Put control in one companies hands and you can never trust anything anymore. Long live free HTML.
