Overlay files
Overlay files are a crackers nightmare! They have a root node which is in memory at all times, and the rest of the program is split into smaller modules. These smaller parts are loaded and unloaded as needed, so you can fit a large program into a small amount of memory.
The best place for documents is this Aminet article on Overlays. If you are writing a new program, I would stay well clear of them personally. |
