It's a Knockout! 2020/21 Quarter Final: Battle Squadron

Rules

Post a picture of your score here with the score written underneath. Enter as often as you like. Only scores achieved during the round's time frame count.

No cheating (including save states) - anyone caught cheating gets banned.

You must not skip any underground entrances. If you miss one then you have to abort and restart the game.

Autofire is allowed.

Starting weapon can be chosen freely, but you must start with 3 lives (or less).

All other settings must be default.


Downloads

We play the fullscreen PAL version which is not in TOSEC. It has a 28% larger playfield: 256 instead of the NTSC's 200 lines.

I'd never played this before at all. This must have been cracking back in the day. Visually I wasn't keen at first, but the more I've played the more it's grown on me.

I'll put this score on the table for now. Hopefully I'll get get a chance to try and improve on it at some point.

I might not be able to post a score. I am having the same problem I had at the beginning of the league round.

When I use the HD ADF and use a joystick (actually keyboard on WinUAE) the controls seize up and ship doesn't move for seconds at a time. When I use the mouse it's too sensitive and the ship flies off in strange directions. When I use the non HD ADF I can't use the bombs which puts me at too much of a disadvantage.

I sorted these issues out somehow during the round but I can't remember how now. I made a save configuration at the time but the issues still arise when I use it. I only have an hour or two tomorrow evening to play so if I can't figure it out, then there will be no score from me.

Ok, I've just got the mouse working. It's still a bit iffy and I'd rather use keyboard, but I'll give it a go.

Ah... I've sussed it, I had to turn off the 'detect controller type' option when launching the game.

Was having a great run until I lost a life and re-appeared directly over a power up for the blue weapon. The most useless damn weapon and it all went to crap after that. Think this will be my last score.

Same for me too At first it seemed to be too candy like with coders' colors (tm), but I also grew on it and noticed the depth elements in the graphics which started to look cool. Overally it seems to be very solid game which looks and plays well and keeps your interest up. Maybe I'll arrange a compo on this at some event when we get rid of the virus
