Transparent External Enclosure for HxC Floppy Emulator for CDTV
I saw this idea on EAB and thought I'd try and make one myself after several failed attempts at getting the HxC inside my CDTV so here's my effort.

I think it's a good effort, if I recall rightly it was Fitzsteve that made the first enclosure for his Hxc.

I bought the perspex cut to size from ebay, around £8
Sanding the edges and polishing was time consuming but simple Gluing the sides to the base was difficult, I had to do by eye, just leaving them balance. while the poly cement set overnight. The poly cement run down the sides so it left some marks. I may try to polish them out. Cutting the SD slot was done with a drill and file Drilling the holes was easy I bought some stand-off pins (from a motherboard fixing kit), they just screwed into the plastic. I could have made it a bit shallower but overall i'm really pleased with it. Possibly the best thing (other than a building!) that I've made. |

hmm!
Combine this with a boot selector and you've got a very useful way of getting adfs to execute from a real amiga... |

The disk loader software is the best thing about the HxC, without it the whole experience would be more hassle

I've just seen this thread. You should tell where did you see that before http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=722169&postcount=22 and how did you think about the buttons. I taked my effort to talk to fitzsteve when his project was incomplete too.
I think it looks better if you use less cables like in mine, but just my opinion. |

I'm thinking about selling this item, to fund getting another HxC to install inside my A1200.
Cost-wise, it would need to be enough to cover the cost of a new HxC (£78) delivered, plus the cost of the external floppy interface (£7), so essentially the enclosure is "free". I would rather see it go to someone else to use rather than for me to pull the HxC out of it. I was thinking £85 plus a few £s P&P. |
