I don't have a Wii number, but I hope that isn't your number in the queue waiting to pick one up - you'll be there a while!
My, my how things have changed. When I bought a SNES I just strolled into town on release day straight into the local Dixons. No queue or anything - simply walked in and picked one up and no one else seemed to be there fighting over one. I asked the attendant if he'd sold many and he casually replied, "yeah we've sold one or two". Today it's like a mini war buying a new console. The power of marketing. My SNES has a number of 000000096 or something, which means it must have been one the first batch of machines made for the UK market. Still going strong too. It's the original Super Mario World pack that came with TWO controllers and scart lead all thrown in. Later they trimmed down the packs like modern releases - one controller and all extras at extra cost. |

My wii doesn't have a number. Only hair and some other unidentifiable stuff.
Haha... Or "I don't have a number! I am a free wii!" Or "I want a Wii too, but I can't afford one until 2007 (which really isn't long off, but it sounds more than if I only said "after christmas")" Last edited by StarEye; 10 December 2006 at 14:03. |

Wii tragedy.. Nintendo blew this one totally.
I pre-ordered a Wii in early November. Even paid it in advance. Not for me but as a Xmas gift. Guess what happens. The shop would have needed several hundred Wiis, they got 30. Local stores had 5 or 6. 350000 consoles is not enough for Europe. BTW, the Wii does cost Euro 159,- in Japan because of the weak Yen. I think the the Wii is very interesting from a technical POV. Not very fast but HD needs several times computing power, so much of the possibilities of XBOX360 and PS3 are blown for HD. In the end all the new consoles have issues. Wii a little bit too much on the weak side. XBox260 flopped in Japan and there's the danger of HD-DVD (Blue-Ray PS3 games could force XBox360 games into HD-DVD which would mean HD-drive built in from late 07 and mandatory upgrade for old XBox users costing Euro 170,- again). PS3 has its issues, too. No old memcard support, you'll need adaptors. I think there will be a crash in the game software business. Developing for the new consoles is VERY expensive, most games will flop besides a few hit titles. The incentive to go for GTA 4, 5 6 and so on will be even greater. So very few really new concepts will have a chance. |

Every Wii has a 16-digit number, which you can give away til friends etc. You design yourself a Miiwii; a digital you. Your friends Mi Wii can then/will then show up in the games. Also use the number for playing multiplay with others.
At least thats what i've been told (I still haven't got a Wii, but sure will get one) |

There is a video on youtube about the Wii security measures so it's of no surprise to me that it only took a matter of weeks for a modchip to surface.
It's basically exactly the same as the GC, there is a loophole with a password and all Nintendo have done is change the password to lowercase or something daft. |
