@Prowler Would be great if you could scan that. The bigger the better, but no more than 300 dpi is needed.
@watertonian Would be awesome if you could help me out. Basically it's every game in WHDLoad, you could maybe take the biggest hits to start with, except the following which I already have done: (but I'm greateful for any game) armalyte cannon fodder chaos engine denaris fernandez must die godfather life&death prince of persia striker supferfrog war in the gulf |

Excellent! Front and left.... the ones you can see on the example box I posted above. By the way just don't destroy it too much with jpeg...

Hehe, no need, just so you don't save them with 5% quality which leaves a 25kb image

Excellent work bLAZER. And good job on the hyperspin wheels as well!
I have a suggestion though: Why not scan four sides while you're at it? It's only a matter of time before someone wants to use the back side of the box as well. At one point the front-ends will probably even support 3d models of game boxes! (If I am not mistaken some fe's already support 3d models of arcade cabs.) Anyway: great work! Those boxes look better than the real thing Last edited by fgh; 25 April 2011 at 19:01. Reason: typo |

Actually, a box has 6 sides, so why only 4?
I'm satisfied with two though. And it's less work for volunteers to scan, thus the chance of anyone bothering to scan increases. |

I have close to 400 boxed games (maybe more than 400 now) and might be able to help with this project. Where can I find a list of which games you are looking for?
Edit: Always thought I would make time to play each of them at least once after I retired, but have not really started on that quest yet. I still play my old favorites once in a while though. |

@AmigaDave Hey man, it would be awesome if you can help out with some scans (as much as you can). AS I wrote earlier it's basically all WHDLoad games minus the ones I listed above. But if you REALLY want names, then of course I would prefer the top games like here http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/votes_list.php
Thanks a bunch! @watertonian So, could you help out with some scans? |

If some charity soul can provide me the Mortal Kombat box scan I'll be totally grateful. Amiga version, of course. The one I have is full of folds and some wear & tear.
I'm planning in do a wall poster. I think bLAZER will like it too, so I'll not feel so guilty for this hijack... |

As a graphic artist, I can say that the best scanning resolution (I know, it's BIG) is 600 dpi for color/greyscale images.
They can so be correctly treated with descreening utilities (the best I know of is the one by Sattva), with optimal results. Then they may be downscaled @ 300dpi, "cleaned" and archived. So, if you're starting a big scanning "tour-de-force" (for example you, AmigaDave ), I WARMLY suggest you all to do it @ 600 dpi! Then you can save each image as JPEG with medium compression and upload it. I will gladly offer my experience about treating those scans... Massimo P.S. I'm doing a similar work with Sinclair ZX Spectrum inlay cards and cassettes, but I have a few original games. It would be so nice if somebody could help me by sending me scans of his games... All Spectrum scans on the Internet are low-resolution, so I wanted to contribute in changing this situation if possible... |

This is not needed for my project though, but of course scanning in higher resolutions, saving in lossless formats etc. is prefered for archiving. Go a head scan as you like, just as long as I get some scans at all.
