At last! its complete! 350Gb of romz and those damn CHDs. I think I've got the virus again... I had been clean for 5 years and now I am back to leeching romz....

Who else here likes to see his 100% completed romz collection?

Not me, I only play shoot'm ups with Mame (ShmupMAME). No need for all of them.

Always loved to have the very latest! I'm just annoyed I never really understood how to properly update the files (with clrmamepro, torrentzip etc), and just copy/replaced new files from new torrents, which I think is not the best way to do it.

Indeed. Same thing for me. I only play gambling/fruit machines, mahjong games, quiz games in Japanese and 3D games that don't exceed 5 fps even at max. speed.

I have complete set with chds too. Only 280gig though I though?
I saved a lot of space by converting all the v4 chd's to v5 chd's

The roms take 48gig on their own I think.

If you use merged sets and use t7z compression they "only" take up approx. 28gb.

Uh, not to turn this to Retrohoarder questions you've always been too embarrassed to ask (Multi-page thread), but what's about merged sets? I mean, to play them, you have to unzip them? Or choose by menu what version are you playing? Or you play only a particular version of them and not alternates?
Never understood it...

It just means that all the different versions of the game are stored in one single archive instead of several.
They show up in the menu just like split sets, no need to unzip anything.

I haven't converted all to v5, but not more than 20 still waiting to go.

I don't know how, but here it says 350 Gb

I try to keep up to date and clrmamepro makes it easy, but it seems to be more difficult these days to find somewhere to get the update sets.
Loads of full set torrents are about but that would suck up a full month's bandwidth. It was much easier when the update sets were more widely used.
The latest update set doesn't seem to be available and it's been out months.
I guess more people these days don't bother with the rom managers and just get a full set with each release.

You could use a place like Pleasuredome torrent system so that only the missing roms are downloaded

Huge MAME fan and I have a fairly decent but older completed set(0.144) with only a few CHDs. Come out to around 35GB or so. What I'm really REALLY excited about however, is that the Nvidia Shield just got released today, and it's powerful enough to run 99% of all MAME games! So imagine having damn near the whole MAME catalog(minus the CHDs) on a memory stick and being able to play them anywhere on a handheld portable powerhouse like the Shield. Just thinking about it gives a hard on

It's about 280gb here too, dunno what the extra 70gb are, updated to 149u1 as well. Pleasuredome is really a great source for retro stuff, that's what I use too!
