060 processor lib's and OS 3.9
Do you need to install the 060 processor libraries when using OS 3.9 or are they installed during OS install?

Commodore never made a 060 board or a 060 lib, therefore no such is included in any version of AmigaOS. If you have a third-party accelerator, you have to use the third-party libs which came with it, too.

Thomas Please read
I checked OS 3.9 install and in fact it does install the 060 libraries. I installed the OS twice to make sure and every time if you go to the LIB directory you will find the 060 library there

You should always use the 060 library from the manufacturer of your Turbo Board as they have their own specific libraries, i.e the Apollo ones wont work with the Blizzard/Cyberstorm and vice versa and they might appear to work but you will get poor performance or crashes during CPU operations.

What about the MMUlib package? It features its own 040 and 060 libraries. Those should work with any brand / model of turbo card.
Edit: Nope. The readme says that those libraries only work with accelerators that follow the guidelines. The user should check system stability and revert to the model specific libs if problems arise. Last edited by Quagliarulo; 29 July 2013 at 04:11. |

They work well with the 040 boards I have and clear up several MMU related issues; I use it on almost all my installs. I haven't noticed a difference with the 060's on testing, so I personally shy away there; also the documentation is not as clear.

If your 3.0/3.1/3.5 system has 060 libs installed, they are copied to the emergeny disk. And if the emergency disk contains 060 libs they are copied to the final installation. The same applies to RTG libs (Picasso96, CyberGraphics). The libs are *not* contained in OS 3.9. They are taken from your earlier system from where you created the emergency disk.

Thats just it Thomas. When I created the 3.9 boot disk I never installed the 060 libraries for my accelerator. I install OS 3.1 from floppy and do not install any libraries for my accelerator. I install ASIMCDFS to get CD access then I create my boot floppy. Then I format my drive and install 3.9 to a blank hard drive. then after I reboot the 060 libraries are there.
