Update 2 is by far the largest update ever released for AmigaOS and includes more than 200 updated components with hundreds of bug fixes, improvements and new features and six completely new OS components. The update is the combined effort of four years of AmigaOS development and will bring AmigaOS4.1 Final Edition to a completely new level of stability and usability.

Some of the highlights of update 2 are.

• New kernel (exec) version 54.28 with many bug-fixes and stability improvements
• Improvements and bug-fixes in the graphics.library, workbench.library, dos.library, application.library, elf.library and many other essential libraries making them more robust, bug-free and future proof
• Bug-fixes and improvements to the USB-stack
• Many bug-fixes and improvements to console.device, ram-handler, appdir-handler and env-handler
• Many bug-fixes in all reaction classes, datatypes and device drivers
• New OS-components such as the append dos command, an OS4.1 version of DiskDoctor from Olaf Barthel, SataControl, appdir-handler, ssh2-handler
• Many, many more bug-fixes, improvements and new features

This update is the result of the continuing effort of a dedicated group of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition developers and beta-testers. Thank you!

My WinUAE installation already had Update 1 installed but AmiUpdate took forever to download Update 2 then Guru'd after asking to select the drive:

Haven't used OS4 for months and checked today on the off chance any updates were available and Update 2 was there in AmiUpdate so tried to install it! Also, had to untick the AmiSSL update as it couldn't connect to GitHub to download!

Any ideas why Update 2 Guru'd?

Now Solved: Manually installed Update 2 without a Guru after the python update requester and rebooted, checked AmiUpdate again and installed 4 updates and rebooted, checked AmiUpdate and could then download/install AmiSSL, seems AmiUpdate is a bit temperamental!

It's already integrated in downloads after January 12 2021 from Hyperions website:

I have been wondering if NG Amiga would finally be worth getting. I dont want to buy overpriced HW just to use Linux on it. I think it is good that OS4 is being developed. That Tabor just seems to take forever to materialize.

You can run OS4 on WinUAE? That should be bad for the company that makes it. Or is it? Does it matter to them what HW ppl use?

OS4 on WinUAE lowers the barrier for entry from $2000 niche hardware to an emulated environment on any modern computer, resulting in a lot more sold licenses

I think it does. Makes me wonder who will buy that super expensive weak HW now?

You could ask the same about people who spend thousands on classic Amiga hardware too, when WinUAE will do much the same thing for free. Yet people do because they want to run actual hardware.

I know, I have spent money on classic HW and there are people I know who will never understand. I love my Amigas. If it makes someone happy to get OS4 HW then they of course do what makes them happy. Its all fine. I have been checking how the development of those computers goes. I have been thinking I might buy a OS4 machine if price will be somehow reasonable. It was new to me that it actually runs in WinUAE (which I have never used).
