Bard's Tale - no items are listed in Garth's equipment shoppe

Hi all,

I got really nostalgic with Bard's Tale (motivated by the "Best Ever SINGLE DISK Amiga Game?" thread) and today I decided to start it from scratch, after many-many years.

I have the original disk but there is one problem: after I create a new party and I visit Gareth's equipment shoppe, the buying list is empty. It's like the shop has nothing to sell to me. I am not sure what the problem is after all these years and I was not able to find out why. Does anyone have any idea perhaps?

IIRC there is a file called "items" on the disk which affects what items are available in the shoppe. So maybe this file has become corrupted.
