PFS wanted.

Hi,

I'm looking for PFS3. The version stored on the EAB file server is a cracked one, and can't be patched to the newest version Does anyone have the original (with key file if necessary)? As far as I know it can't be bought anymore, so getting the original from someone is the only way to get it.

Any help is appreciated

i had a quick look at the INSTALL script of the aminet patch; it seems, we also need a tool from the original installation: "pfs3:c/getserial". this is not included in the Faith release :/
hmmm, let alone the serial - those patches might not get applied to the altered files of the Faith release, i guess *umpf* :/

- but i still think, we will fail, when it comes to patching the files :/

Edit: it's not really hard to follow the update INSTALL file; the patching itself, will be done by a simple spatch command:

so someone can just try to patch it on the cli. for example:
faith release file: PFS3/data/eng/fs/PFS3
aminet patch file: patch/eng/PFS3.pch
and now the patch command in a cli window:

spatch -oPFS3_updated -pPFS3.pch C:PFS3

well, if this patch works, then you have a updated version called "PFS3_updated".

*try only with non installed files, dont risk loosing / destroying your partition - DONT try if you are in DOUBT!!*

hmm, i've no clue about these spatch'es; at least the patched areas must fit the source-binary. maybe a checksum is also provided within the patch, to ensure, it hits the correct source-bin - not that easy at all

Edit:
- version string of PFS3 says: $VER: Professional-File-System-II 18.3 *strange enough*
- but you can also read in the same binary: Professional File System 3 V5.0
- the aminet patch: "upgrade from PFS3 V5.1 to V5.3"
= we are lost a bit

Guys, I uploaded getserial from PFS3 to the zone. Please tell me how does the update work with that.

also with a serial it will fail the same as it did with manual patching, i'm pretty sure ;/

hmm, this aminet patch can work as an upgrade from psf2 to psf3?
on DeviousTools #155 there is PFS2 17.3, not cracked, comes with serial - it also has the getserial command.
on this #155 there is also a keymaker for PFS2 included.
DeviousTools are on eab file server (user/andy...) - anyone want try?

Edit#1:
- version info of pfs2/english/l/PFS-II : "Professional File System II V4.1"
- so the aminet update from 4.1 to 4.2 might work ( PFS2_4142.lha )
