ACA630 Heatsink and CF Card

Hi,

I have an ACA630 installed in my A600. I also have a CF Card installed. I can close the A600 case, but part of the CF card lies on top of the ACA630 heatsink. I know that when the A600 is powered up, the heatsink gets a little hot. The IDE cable to CF Adapter is short, so I cant flex the CF Card away from the heatsink.

Do you think this will become a problem for the CF card?

I wouldn't run it like that, my ACA630 gets real hot but it is a tad overclocked. In any case you're better off mounting the CF elsewhere.

Kipper2k made some nice adapters that sit above the PCMCIA but you have to cut the case/file out the opening as it lets you remove the CF without opening the A600

Amigakit sell IDE cables in several lenths if you just want to mount the adapter elsewhere.

Steve.

Agreed, a $5 longer IDE cable and you're, as they say, sorted.

A 6cm ide cable is fine, I have this on mine, it folds perfect and goes down towards the pcmcia slot.
Keeps it away from ACA630.

Or you can check out the thread Alexh pointed to.
