removing BAD smell
oki, a bit offtopic..
how do you remove bad smell from devices (such as Amiga) that had spent a lot of time in basement (or worse)? I tried alcohol and various other stuff, like leaving it outside in wind, but it didn't help much. PS. to me this is bigger issue than infamous 'yellowing' |

Bad smell? I think it's not possible, it must be something other. I have some old hardware and it's odorless (also 2xAmiga).

Time, I have a number of items from a deceased friend of mine, he was a heavy smoker and they stank, but time here has cured them of their smell.
Drop all the plastics into vinegar and water, let them soak for awhile, then if there were any mould spores or alike, they would be killed off. It's just a suggestion, it may work, it may not. Paul |

alcohol can be destroy the synthesis of plastics, paints,or varnish.
You can clean it with water and soft soap (like baby shampoo). Now for inside, metals and electronics you can clean it with a contact spray for electronics and a soft brass. Other way to remove "Odors" is the "Charcoal Air Filters" but must be put the "item" on the filter box system ,or you can make by your self a simple case - box with hard paper as you big want, item must be stay there 1 or more day. Yeah time is pretty much it, you can do the trick with the filter box that Anemos suggested as this will hasten the probable mold spore smells that have accumulated on these devices.
