Old A600, new caps?
Hello all, purchased this A600 through here many many moons ago from Fitzsteve? (Can't find the original thread) and just wondering, its the first 'A300' kind but are the caps the NEW kind or super old and need replacing???

Those caps don't look original so I would say the board has been recapped already.

Those are original caps on the very first rev A300 :-) So yes recap it.

Most are indeed black, but Commodore will have used whatever type were cheapest at the time of manufacture, so suppliers and brands changed. It's hard to tell from the photos because they're just not clear enough at the joints... but the through hole capacitors are Elna, which are a brand used by Commodore, so there's a good chance these haven't been changed.

Sure when Steve sold it to me it mentioned recapped, wish I could find that (albeit, super old) thread, only the A600 takes ages to boot up and heard that's maybe a tell-tale sign of a certain cap going?
